Experience: Professional and Personal
Laura has been a resident of Ocoee for 18 years. Her husband, Joel Keller, is a Commissioner for the City of Ocoee. Together, they have two children: Christopher, a West Orange High School graduate (2004) and Danielle, an Ocoee High School graduate (2008). Laura is an accountant with 36 years of experience. She has managed her own business for the past 10 years.
Laura's knowledge and concern for Orange County Public Schools has grown from over 14 years of experience as a volunteer in the public school system. Over that time period, Laura has served on the Ocoee Middle School, West Orange High School and Ocoee High School Parent Teacher Student Associations (PTSA) in such roles as Treasurer, Membership Chairperson and Vice President. She has also served on the School Advisory Councils (SAC) of those same schools. Laura has been actively involved as a Band Booster for 8 years serving as Treasurer, Chaperone, Uniform Coordinator, Videographer, Photographer and other related "Band Parent" duties. Laura has donated thousands of hours of service to improve Orange County Public Schools.
Laura was a member of the Ocoee High School Assistant Principal Interview Committee from 2005 to 2007 and also the Ocoee Middle School Assistant Principal Interview Committee from 1998 to 1999. All of this involvement has given Laura first-hand knowledge of the needs of students, teachers and school administrators.
Most recently, Laura held the position of Vice-Chair for the City of Ocoee's School Advisory Board.
Laura Keller is an Accountant and Enrolled Agent by trade and manages her own business. Among her clients are local churches, homeowners' associations and local businesses. She is the current President of the Sawmill HOA, and she has served as Treasurer for the Surrey Park HOA in Apopka since 2000. She volunteered for 16 years on an Engaged Encounter team promoting marriage and family life.
Laura has given countless hours of her personal time to help our students and teachers. It is parents like Laura that make a difference to improve the education system for all of Orange County.
